Bye Bye old seat, hello $30

If you have a child’s car seat collecting dust in your storage room or if your baby has grown out of her infant seat, don’t forget to drop off your old car seat at WalMart Sept. 16-30 in celebration of National Baby Safety Month.

When you trade in your old car seat you will receive a $30 WalMart gift card at most locations, though not at all Walmarts and some fine print applies.

Where your old seat goes after it gets dropped off

The old car seats will get recycled through TerraCycle, ensuring the parts don’t wind up in a landfill somewhere. Also the older, less safe car seats will be replaced by newer and better models, all while respecting the environment.

“Safety – especially car seat safety – is a top priority for Walmart’s Baby department, so we wanted to use our size and scale to create an event that offered unprecedented access to trade in an outgrown car seat for a gift card – perfect for using on your baby’s next car seat,” said Melody Richards, Vice President, Walmart Baby. “Sustainability is of equal importance to Walmart, so we’re happy to work with TerraCycle who will recycle every component of the car seats.” source
